DHI FUE Method

The Direct Hair Implantation (DHI) technique is a specialized method of performing Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) hair transplantation. It is known for its precise and meticulous approach to implanting hair follicles directly into the recipient area without the need for creating recipient sites beforehand. Here’s a detailed overview of the DHI FUE method:

Procedure:

  • Extraction Phase: Hair follicles are individually extracted from the donor area (typically the back or sides of the scalp) using a micro motor punch device with a diameter ranging from 0.6 to 1.0 mm. The follicles are extracted one by one to minimize trauma and preserve their integrity.
  • Placement Phase: Unlike traditional FUE where recipient sites are created first, in DHI, hair follicles are directly implanted into the recipient area using a specialized tool called a Choi Implanter Pen or DHI Implanter. This pen has a hollow needle with a fine tip that allows for precise placement of follicles at a predetermined angle, depth, and direction.

Advantages of DHI FUE:

  • Precision in Implantation: The Choi Implanter Pen enables precise control over the angle and depth of hair follicle placement, resulting in natural-looking hair growth patterns.
  • Minimized Handling of Grafts: Since follicles are implanted immediately after extraction, there is minimal time outside the body, reducing the risk of graft damage and improving survival rates.
  • No Need for Recipient Site Preparation: The simultaneous extraction and implantation process eliminates the need for creating recipient sites beforehand, which can potentially speed up the procedure and reduce overall operating time.
  • Natural Hairline Design: The ability to control the exact placement of follicles allows for creating a natural hairline with dense packing, enhancing aesthetic outcomes.

Considerations:

  • Skill and Experience: DHI FUE requires specialized training and expertise in using the Choi Implanter Pen to achieve optimal results. Surgeon experience plays a crucial role in determining the success of the procedure.
  • Suitability: The suitability of DHI FUE depends on factors such as the extent of hair loss, donor hair availability, and scalp condition. A thorough consultation with a qualified hair transplant surgeon is essential to assess candidacy.
  • Post-Operative Care: Following DHI FUE, adherence to post-operative care instructions is crucial for promoting healing and ensuring the best possible results.

The DHI FUE method of hair transplantation offers a sophisticated approach to restoring hair by combining the precision of follicle extraction with direct implantation using the Choi Implanter Pen. It aims to achieve natural-looking results with minimal downtime and reduced risk of complications. Choosing a skilled and experienced hair transplant surgeon is essential for achieving optimal outcomes and ensuring a successful procedure. Consulting with a specialist can provide personalized insights into whether DHI FUE is the right choice for addressing your hair loss concerns.
